Lloyd District

The Lloyd District is named after Ralph Lloyd, a California rancher, oilman, and real estate developer responsible for the development of the area. It is primarily a commercial neighborhood in Northeast Portland, adjacent to Eliot, Irvington, Sullivan’s Gulch and Kerns. The Rose Quarter, home of the Moda Center and Memorial Coliseum, is west of Interstate 5 within the Lloyd District.

VIBE AND STYLE

The Lloyd District consists of nearly all multi-family housing with virtually no stand-alone houses. Several high-rise apartment complexes stand along the Holladay Street Corridor. In addition to the wide variety of apartment complexes, there are many condos in this location for those interested in urban home ownership. Public transportation provides residents easy access to anywhere in the city via Tri-Met bus routes and Light Rail Max lines.

LOCAL SCENE

As the home for Portland’s biggest concerts, sporting events, and major gatherings, the Lloyd District beckons Portlanders of all kind year round. You can catch a professional basketball or hockey game at The Moda Center, home of the Portland Trail Blazers and the Winter Hawks. The Lloyd District is also home to Oregon’s largest shopping center, The Lloyd Center. The Lloyd Center was established in 1960 and was the largest mall in the country at the time. You can browse over 150 specialty shops, eat at one of the many restaurants, go see a movie, and ice skate.

OUTDOOR SANCTUARY

Holladay Park is nestled right outside the boundaries of the Lloyd District. The park is relatively small, but full of Portland charm. Take your dog on a walk along the paved paths, watch your children play in the fountain, and enjoy public art.
