Oregon City

Abundant with history, Oregon City is a delightful community located southeast of Portland just below the Willamette River Falls. Originally a fishing locale and trading post, the area quickly industrialized; large steamboats floated the powerful Willamette River transporting goods between the upper valley and Oregon City. Known as the end of the Oregon Trail, the influx of settlers continued the area’s rapid growth into a center of industry.

VIBE AND STYLE

Significantly rooted in Oregon’s history, the community continues to celebrate its heritage while remaining progressive. The award-winning Blue Collar Creative initiative was established in order to attract innovative professionals to reside and work in the revitalized downtown district. Oregon City has become a delicate blend of small town values and urban development, making it a desirable place to live.

The styles of homes in Oregon City span a broad range of architecture and vary depending on the location. In the more established neighborhoods you’ll find quaint farmhouses reflective of the area’s past next to vintage bungalows and cottages. The newer developments offer large sprawling estates built with high-efficiency materials.

LOCAL SCENE

A history buff’s dream, Oregon City is best known for its historical landmarks and museums. Investigate pioneer roots at the End of the Oregon Trail Visitor Center where exhibits and activities educate visitors about the state’s fascinating history. Dedicated to the commemoration of Oregon’s history, downtown buildings are decorated with colorful murals illustrating the past. This part of town is home to a few retail shops, numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars.

OUTDOOR SANCTUARY

Oregon City hosts 22 parks within its boundaries with plans to add several more in the future. These parks offer miles of well-maintained hiking trails, playgrounds, a skate park and plenty of open green space. Anglers swarm to the banks of the Willamette to catch their share of famous Northwest seafood including Coho salmon, bass, bluegill and perch. Located in the historic downtown district, the 130-foot tall Oregon City Municipal Elevator is one of only four municipal elevators in the world. Originally designed to connect downtown with the upper level business and residential districts, the elevator is a tourist destination due to the spectacular views from the observation deck of the Willamette Falls and downtown.

Private mortgage insurance is an insurance policy that a residential mortgage lender requires of the borrower if the loan-to-value (LTV) ratio of the home is greater than 80%. Mortgage insurance protects the lender from the risk that the borrower may default on the loan. Federal law requires lenders to notify borrowers when the loan-to-value ratio drops below 80%. Mortgage insurance premiums vary, but generally range from $1,000 to $5,000 a year for an average priced home.

Assessments are monthly fees such as Home Owners Association(HOA) Fees etc... Results received from this calculator are designed for comparative purposes only, and accuracy is not guaranteed.
