Where to Find the Best Pumpkin Lattes in Portland

  |  Neighborhood Insight, Portland

Over the past few years, pumpkin spice everything has taken the world by storm. These days, you can find almost anything in a pumpkin spice flavor come fall, but there’s nothing better than the one that started it all: the pumpkin spice latte.

While you could, of course, head to a coffee chain to get this tasty drink, we love supporting local coffee shops whenever we can. Luckily, many of Portland’s fantastic coffee destinations are offering PSLs and other pumpkin-themed coffee drinks this season. We rounded a few of them up below. Enjoy!

On Northwest 23rd in Portland, there is a tiny, walk-up coffee kiosk that is Portland’s best kept secret. Sunny Day Coffee is independently owned and DIY-dedicated, making their own pastries, chai, syrups and more from scratch. Their pumpkin syrup, which you can get in their Pumpkin Latte or any other coffee on the menu, is no different. They make it using real pumpkin puree, cinnamon, clove, ginger and nutmeg for a heavenly experience you won’t soon forget.

With a location in Portland and another in Vancouver, Presso Coffee makes it easy to get your PSL fix wherever you are in the area! Their 2021 lineup of fall drinks is to-die-for, including a Salted Caramel Latte, a Pumpkin Cold Foam Cold Brew, a Spiced Caramel Apple Cider and, of course, their famous Pumpkin Spice Latte. Don’t forget to order your drink with a Ripple (customizable latte foam art) for an extra special twist.

Nossa Familia’s Harvest Latte is an iconic fall staple here in PDX. This blend of real pumpkin with fall spices is divine—especially when topped with their seasonal vanilla whipped cream. Pair it with a delicious pastry and an afternoon on their Pearl District patio and you’ve got yourself a perfect fall afternoon.

For those who aren’t big coffee drinkers, head to Tea Bar, a very popular tea shop with several locations in the PDX area. Here, you can order a variety of seasonal tea drinks—including a Pumpkin Spice Latte, completely coffee free. This very special PSL is made in house using organic black tea, fresh pumpkin puree, cinnamon, cayenne, fresh nutmeg and milk. They also have a delicious Cardamom Chai Latte that would also make a fantastic choice this season!

Mt. Tabor’s favorite coffeeshop, Rain or Shine Coffee House, is a local destination for great coffee, massive pastries, iced teas, hot chocolate and much more. They just began offering their popular Pumpkin Spice Latte once again, featuring cinnamon, cardamom and topped with plenty of whipped cream. You can get it hot or iced (and garnished with a cinnamon stick) at their cozy café Tuesday-Sunday.

If you’re looking for something on the cooler side while we wait for the colder weather to really kick in, head to Willamette Coffee House for their new Pumpkin Cold Foam Cold Brew! This sweet treat adds the perfect amount of fall flavor to their already great Cold Brew. And, if you’re not a fan of cold brew, you can get their homemade Cold Foam added to any drink on the menu.

Pumpkin season is back at Wild Rose Coffee! This adorable coffee cart, which can be found at Slabtown Outdoor Market, features a wide variety of coffee drinks using freshly roasted coffee beans. Their new pumpkin syrup can be added to any drink on the menu from lattes to chai to mochas and more.

Possibly the most famous drink on this list, Flying Cat Coffee’s Pumpkin Spice Latte has been a favorite for years. In fact, it was even named the best Pumpkin Spice Latte in Oregon by The Daily Meal! This tasty drink features a super-secret pumpkin spice mix that they brew up fresh daily. It’s made with real pumpkin, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg, and is also fantastic in a Pumpkin Spice White Mocha, which is also on their seasonal menu this year.

Is there a better place to get a pumpkin flavored coffee than an actual pumpkin patch? We don’t think so! The Patio Café at The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island is a destination for farm-fresh goodies all year long. From strawberry shortcake in the summer to pumpkin lattes, caramel apples, kettle corn and elephant ears in the fall—each selection at the Patio Café uses ingredients grown on the farm. Stop in, grab a latte (and several other seasonal treats), and settle in on one of their cozy patio tables before heading out to pick your very own pumpkin in the U-pick patch!

House-made baked goods, special coffees and friendly faces—Cathedral Coffee on North Willamette is one of our favorite places to relax in the PDX area. They just announced their 2021 fall menu, which includes a Pumpkin Spice Latte along with an Espresso Tonic (tonic water, espresso, orange cardamom syrup and lemon) and The Autumn Fog (Rooibos paired with orange cardamom and oat milk).

It’s Pumpkin Spice Season!
