Flights are back! And no, we’re not talking about airline flights — although we are excited for their return as well. We’re talking about flights featuring tiny samples of a variety of flavors, in both liquid and solid form. 

Portland has plenty of unique, tasty flights to try, which are perfect for when you can’t quite pick one thing off the menu. Don’t worry — we did all the digging for you to uncover the best food and drink flights in Portland, ranging from your tried-and-true wine and beer flights to some more unexpected samplers, like ice cream and toast flights!

Vodka Flight at Kachka or Wild Roots

Vodka has been elevated from a mere ingredient in sugary cocktails to a delicacy that should be savored and experiencedTo do just that, visit one of these vodka-centric hotspots offering vodka flights! 

Kachka is a lively spot serving Russian fare and house-infused vodkas, which you can taste with one of their five different flights. Each flight includes a trio of their fine vodkas, ranging in price from $14–26. 

Wild Roots produces all-natural, handcrafted infused spirits representing the best of the Pacific Northwest. Sample their creations in the Wild Roots Tasting Room, located in the heart of the Central Eastside District. Here, you can try their spirits in a flight or a mini cocktail, which changes seasonally! 

 

Beer Flight at 10 Barrel Brewing 

Beer flights abound in the craft beer mecca of Portland. Most include a sampling of four or five different brews, but why stop there? 10 Barrel Brewing offers an impressive 10 beers on their flight, which are constantly changing depending on what’s on tap. Click the always-updated menu on the Portland location site to see what 10 Barrel is pouring on any given day. The beers included in the flight are marked with Sampler #1, Sampler #2 and so on.

Portland Cider Co. operates two cider pubs, including one on Hawthorne, which is one of the largest cider houses in Oregon and has one of the most diverse collections of cider in North America. Here, you can choose from more than 30 ciders on tap — but if you can’t choose, order a flight! For just $10, choose any six ciders or the guest craft beers! 

 

Whiskey Flight at Westward Whiskey 

For nearly two decades, Westward Whiskey has reimagined the American Single Malt, bringing something new, different and relevant to the world of whiskey. You can sample some of their finest whiskeys by making a reservation for a tasting experience, which includes a flight plus information about their whiskey making process. 

 

Wine Flight at Stem Wine Bar

Previously known as 45 North, Stem Wine Bar is one of the best destinations for Oregon and French wines, featuring a cozy atmosphere and friendly service. With over 200 wines available by the glass, their wine menu is quite extensive, so their flights are one of the best ways to try multiple wines in one sitting. Mimosa Flight from The Eastburn 

When it’s brunch time, sometimes you can’t choose between a traditional mimosa or a specialty one, made with unique ingredients like pineapple or blood orange. At The Eastburn, you don’t have to choose! Their Mimosa Flight includes four mimosa flavors, including black currant, apricot, white peach and blood orange, for $8. And their Brunch Flight includes a mixture of several boozy brunch cocktails and drinks, including a mini Bloody Mary, a mimosa, a coffee nudge and a greyhound for $12.

You may go to Pip’s Original for their doughnuts — but you’ll stay for their chai. And with so many chai flavors/names to choose from, like Smokey Robinson, Ginger Rogers, Heart of Gold, King and I, and Emmylou, you might be overwhelmed. Salt & Straw is one of the most popular destinations for ice cream in town, as evidenced by the long lines trailing out the door at each location on a hot summer day. They are known for their eccentric flavors, such as honey lavender, pear and blue cheese, arbequina olive oil, cold brew coffee cashew praline, and many more. But if you can’t choose just one (and we don’t blame you!), simply order a flight, which features a sample of four different flavors! 

 

Toast Flight from Upstream Coffee 

Upstream Coffee may be known for its beverages, including coffee, wine and beer, but their food should not be missed — especially their unique and flavorful toasts. Upstream’s avocado toast is made with seeded whole wheat pullman bread, fleur de sel sea salt, cracked black pepper and smoked chili flakes. The caprese toast is made with brioche pullman bread, ricotta, tomato, basil, olive oil and balsamic. And the lavender honey toast is made with brioche pullman bread, goat cheese, honey and lavender. Cheese & Crack describes themselves as “what happened when the cheese and cracker lunches of our childhood grew up but didn’t want to become a charcuterie plate like its father.” This cheese shop sells cheese snack boxes, sandwiches, soft serve and slushies, every day from 3–10 p.m. Their Sampler Plate is one of the best ways to get a taste of it all — it includes Beecher’s cheddar, Hook’s bleu, brie brûléecaña de oveja, double crackers, double baguette, olives, cornichons, marionberry jamdijon and honey.
