How to Spend Valentine’s Day in Portland, Oregon | Events + Dinners

Don’t forget: Valentine’s Day is coming up! Whether it’s your first Valentine’s Day with your significant other or you’ve been together for decades, there are so many fun ways to celebrate your love in Portland this year.

If you’re looking for a bit more than your usual dinner-and-a-movie combo, you might want to add these Portland Valentine’s Day events and dinners to your calendar. And be sure to get tickets or book your table, as they tend to fill up quickly!

NOTE: All events and dinners take place on Friday, February 14 — with the exception of the Portland Spirit Valentine’s on the River, which occurs on both Friday and Saturday night.

The Perfect Pairing: Moonstruck & Cider

12–9 p.m.

Portland Cider House (Portland) + Portland Cider Co. (Clackamas)

Portland Cider House has partnered with Moonstruck Chocolate Co. for a deliciously perfect pairing this Valentine’s Day. Taste six of their award-winning ciders alongside six of Moonstruck’s locally made artisan truffles. The pairing is only available until cider and truffles run out! Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at both Portland Cider Co. pubs.


Valentine’s Market At Oaks Park

6–10 p.m.

Oaks Amusement Park

This family-friendly market is the perfect way to spend your evening — with your Valentine, your kids or your friends. Peruse a variety of artisan-made goods within the indoor, heated space at the Dance Pavilion of Oaks Amusement Park in Sellwood. Admission is free but access to the VIP area is $20, which includes a beverage, access to oysters and appetizers, and swag. Plus, VIP ticket holders will receive 10% off all vendors!

Wine Lovers Experience & Label Painting With Chris James Cellars

How well do you know your wines? Put your skills to the test at Bottle & Bottega this Valentine’s Day. They are partnering with Chris James Cellars for an artistic wine tasting event. You’ll receive a six-wine tasting flight and it’s up to you to properly identify them — and prizes will be awarded to those who get the most wines correct. Plus, you’ll paint your very own wine label and take-home glass. No experience is needed! Additional wine, beer and cider will be available for purchase, but feel free to bring your own bites.


Haunted Valentine Pub Tour

7 + 8 p.m.

Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub

Add a little excitement to your Valentine’s Day this year by embarking on the Haunted Valentine Pub Tour. A tour guide will take you through two historic pubs and an eerie underground tunnel, sharing stories about the “wild days” when the city was filled with saloons, brothels and an underground world. Enjoy six 5-ounce beer samples on this 2.5-hour tour. The tour is $59 per person (plus an online booking fee). Tours take off at Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub at 7 and 8 p.m.


Sweethearts & Lonely Hearts Valentine’s Day Bash

7–10 p.m.

McMenamins Kennedy School

Travel back to the days you passed notes to your crush in class by spending your Valentine’s Day at the Kennedy School. Dance along with My Siamese Twin and enjoy food and drink specials in the Courtyard Restaurant. Admission to this 21+ event is completely free!

Sing out your favorite Elton John tunes at this special Valentine’s Day Singalong Tribute to Elton John, featuring an array of guest musicians, including Ashleigh Flynn, Don Henson and more, plus the beloved local pop-up choir, the Low Bar Chorale. Tickets are $25 in advance or $27 the day of.


Valentine’s Day With Patrick Lamb

7:30 p.m.

Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

Phenomenal musician and vocalist Patrick Lamb is performing with the Oregon Symphony for a not-to-be-missed Valentine’s Day concert debut. Patrick has performed with R&B and jazz legends Smokey Robinson, Bobby Caldwell and Diane Schuur, and now has three singles of his own that have reached the top 5 of the U.S. Billboard charts. Tickets for the show start at $30.


Casablanca in Concert

7:30 p.m.

Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with one of classic Hollywood’s most romantic tales, Casablanca. The story portrays lovers whose fates are complicated by the machinations of World War II. Take in Max Steiner’s memorable score performed live by the Oregon Symphony while the projected film plays. Tickets start at $30.

Founded in 2013, the Bleeding Hearts Ball is a celebration of all aspects of love, from the very best to the very worst, with no emotions left untouched. Each Valentine’s Day, a group of experienced local musicians called the Bleeding Hearts perform a collection of well-curated cover soul/R&B/pop tunes. This charity event is held in honor of their departed friend and bassist, Ben Rougeou. Proceeds benefit Pass the Mic, a free week-long music camp connecting experienced local musicians to immigrant and refugee youth.


Valentine’s on the River

Nothing says romance quite like a river cruise. Take in the spectacular views of the city skyline as you cruise along the Willamette River, while enjoying a delicious four-course meal and live music. The cruise takes off at 7 p.m. on February 14, and both 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on February 15. Boarding starts 30 minutes before departure!

Spice up your Valentine’s Day with a little mystery at The Dinner Detective, an interactive comedy dinner show. You and your date will tackle a hilarious and challenging crime while you feast on a fantastic dinner. Just beware! The culprit is hiding in plain sight somewhere in the room, and you may end up as the prime suspect. Tickets include a four-course dinner, iced tea and coffee, murder mystery entertainment, a prize package for the top sleuth, and access to the cash bar.
