It feels like we just celebrated the start of the new year — but believe it or not, Memorial Day is just around the corner! This action-packed three-day weekend signifies the unofficial start of summer and we couldn’t be more excited to kick off this amazing season. But more importantly, Memorial Day is a time set aside to honor those who sacrificed their lives while serving in our country’s armed forces.
Mark your calendars for these exciting Memorial Day weekend events in Central Oregon, including options for dogs, kids, adults — and sometimes a combination of the above. Whether you’re celebrating in Bend, Sunriver, Redmond or Sisters, there’s something for you to do this weekend!

Top off the nine-day celebration of all things craft beer at the final weekend of Central Oregon Beer Week. The week will be filled with a variety of events, including growler fill specials, barbecues, live music, karaoke contests, beer education and more. Sample some of the nation’s finest craft beer from 29 participating breweries!
Kick off Sunriver Resort’s Summer Concert series, which takes place each Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from Memorial Day weekend through September 1. Enjoy live music, food, drinks, beautiful views and fun activities for kids — all behind the Main Lodge at Sunriver Resort from 6:30–8:30 p.m. Performances on Memorial Day weekend include The Parnells on Friday, May 24, Casey Parnell on Saturday, May 25, and High Street Combo on Sunday, May 26.

Sign up for the Happy Girls Bend 5K, 10K and Half Marathon taking place on Saturday! The scenic route travels through the heart of the Old Mill District, through downtown, along the river canyon, and finishes at Riverbend Park. This race is open to women of all ages and running abilities! Plus, your little ones ages 3–10 can join in the fun by signing up for the Happy Little Kids Run kicking off at noon.
Kids Day in May is a fun-filled event geared towards kids of all ages features a petting zoo, inflatable bounce houses, a rock wall, face painting, cotton candy and much more. This event at The Village at Sunriver is completely free and activities cost $1 per ticket. Portions of the proceeds benefit a variety of non-profit organizations in South Deschutes County.
Since 1974, the Central Oregon Saturday Market has been the largest gathering of local artists and crafters east of the Cascades. The season kicks off on Memorial Day weekend on both Saturday and Sunday and extends all the way through Labor Day weekend. Shop from a variety of vendors, including artists, craftspeople, growers, gatherers, and food vendors, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday this summer in downtown Bend.
Celebrate another amazing winter and spring at Mt. Bachelor with one final run down the slopes. At their final event of the season, Sunchaser Spring, enjoy skiing, riding and biking all weekend long. Plus, there will be plenty of food, beer, music and a variety of activities both Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss the Annual North American Pond Skimming Championships on Sunday!

Central Oregon School of Ballet presents the classic fairytale, Cinderella, with just two shows on May 25 and 26. Follow the enchanting journey of the beloved Cinderella, who rises from oppressed servant girl to fairytale princess. The show at the Summit High School auditorium will feature professional guest ballet dancers from Seattle and Bend, in addition to the talented students at COSB. General admission tickets cost $15.
Celebrating its 10th year, Sisters Stampede is the largest cross country mountain bike race in the state of Oregon. Join 500 mountain bikers for an action-packed adventure along the Peterson Ridge Trail System in Sisters. Opt for the 26- or 11-mile race and stick around for the party at the finish line!
The Village at Sunriver is hosting Dog Day in May, a popular event for both local and traveling dogs — and their human companions. Start the day with the 5K Poker Dog Walk/Run, which benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and SW Washington. Join the canine festivities after the race, including amateur dog talent contests, Humane Society adoptions, and vendors offering a range of canine products and services.
