We are thrilled to announce the very first Hasson Company Annual Give Back Day! As a company, we believe it’s not enough to be a part of the communities we serve; we must take an active role in them. And we believe in events and programs that help build stronger communities.
On July 19, Hasson brokers and employees will come together as a united group to give back to the communities we live and work in. We are hoping for 100 percent participation with our Give Back Day, which will benefit Habitat for Humanity, Embrace Oregon and the Oregon Food Bank.

In addition to raising cash donations, on July 19, Hasson will have over 50 volunteers working alongside future Habitat for Humanity homeowners at four build sites benefiting four Habitat affiliates: Evergreen (Southwest Washington), Willamette West, Portland Metro/East, and the Bend Area.
“We are delighted to partner with Hasson Company, Realtors for their Annual Give Back Day,” said Melinda Musser, director of communication. “Hasson employees will come out to our build site in July to swing hammers and raise walls — helping us build affordable, healthy homes for local families. We appreciate all that Hasson has done to support affordable homeownership here in the Portland Metro region.”
About Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity partners with people in the community and all over the world to help them build or improve a place they can call home. This nonprofit has a vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. They work towards this vision by building strength, stability, and self-reliance in partnership with families in need of decent and affordable housing. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Hasson will raise funds and purchase supplies for Embrace Oregon, and on July 19, will assemble Welcome Boxes for the organization. These boxes are given to children awaiting foster home placement, struggling with a disappointment, or experiencing a transfer from one foster home to another.
“The Hasson team’s willingness to jump into service projects is the exact engagement that helps move the dial for youth in foster care,” said Kerri Thornton, assistant director of strategic partnerships and initiatives at Embrace Oregon. “For an entire community and business to stand up and say ‘we are willing to fight for marginalized youth to be seen and recognized’ is what makes the work of Embrace Oregon possible. Frankly, community members are the Embrace movement, and we are grateful to partner with Hasson this year!”
About Embrace Oregon
Embrace Oregon connects caring community members with vulnerable children and families in partnership with the Department of Human Services. Embrace Oregon is the Portland Metro affiliate of Every Child Oregon. Throughout Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties, the organization provides volunteers and resources to support children in foster care and the people who care for them. They are dedicated to the flourishing of every child.

Each Hasson office will collect donations of non-perishable food products from July 15–19 to be donated to Oregon Food Bank. The food bank collects and distributes food through a network of 21 regional food banks and approximately 1,200 food assistance sites serving all of Oregon and Southwest Washington.
“Oregon Food Bank is extremely grateful to be a part of this year’s Hasson Company Annual Give Back Day 2019,” said Kyle Hummel, the corporate and community relations coordinator of Oregon Food Bank. “The genuine care for community and our neighbors in need that the Hasson Company is displaying is something we are excited to be a part of and because of it we will be changing the lives of thousands of our neighbors who are food insecure. Every 1.2 pounds of food and every 33 cents is a meal for our neighbors (10 pounds equals about eight meals; $1 provides about three meals) so we will be helping A LOT of people out!”
About Oregon Food Bank
Oregon Food Bank does things a bit differently by collecting food from farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, individuals and governmental sources. They distribute that food through a statewide network of 21 regional food banks and approximately 1,200 food assistance sites serving all of Oregon and Clark County, Washington.
Additional Support + Sponsorship
Throughout the year, Hasson also sponsors and supports additional nonprofits that serve the
neighborhoods we call home. These organizations include Dress For Success Oregon, the Tower Theatre, Cork & Barrel, HOME Foundation and more. See the full list of organizations Hasson supported in 2018!
