The Many Ways Hasson Is Giving Back to the Community This Year

  |  Company News, Company News

Hasson Company, Realtors is passionate about giving back to the community, whether it’s through volunteer work, financial support, or collecting goods to help those in need. We strongly believe in utilizing our resources to come alongside the organizations directly addressing various needs in the community. There are so many nonprofits in our midst aiding with issues of abuse, hunger, homelessness, and other challenges.

There are a number of ways throughout the year that we give back to the communities we live in, throughout Portland Metro, Southwest Washington and Central Oregon. Take a look at the many missions we’ve decided to stand behind, and consider supporting these organizations as well! Together, we can help make our communities a little brighter and make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.

As with previous years, we are continuing to support a variety of nonprofits in the region this year on a company-wide level. We are passionate about the missions of these organizations and want to stand with them through financial support.

Habitat for Humanity | Portland Metro

Habitat for Humanity Portland, OR

For the first year ever, we are a Hard Hat Black Tie Platinum Sponsor for Habitat for Humanity, which includes being a part of two local build days at two sites in Portland. We are co-sponsoring at this level with Directors Mortgage.

Habitat for Humanity partners with people in the community and all over the world to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. This amazing organization helps homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families.

Dress For Success | Portland Metro + Southwest Washington

For a number of years, we have worked with Dress For Success, a nonprofit that works to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women. We do this primarily through our annual clothing drive, where we collect gently used women’s professional clothing, accessories or cash donations at our Portland Metro and Southwest Washington offices.

Dress For Success helps disadvantaged women thrive in work and in life by providing professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools. Our partnership helps support their efforts in a small yet tangible way. A $500 contribution sponsors one woman’s services with Dress For Success for an entire year.

KGW Great Toy Drive | Portland Metro

KGW Great Toy Drive | Portland Metro

Each year, KGW hosts a toy drive to support local families in need during the holidays. For several years now, our Uptown and Irving offices have been collecting toys for this incredible cause. Be a part of the drive by dropping off new, unwrapped toys for ages 0–17 at our offices by the cut-off date. Your contributions will then be passed on to the 120 nonprofit organizations that coordinate the distribution to families in need.

Toys for Tots Toy Drive | Central Oregon

Each holiday season, our Bend office takes part in Toys for Tots, hosted by the Marine Corps League of Central Oregon. Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys for children in Deschutes, Crook, Jefferson, Harney, and North Klamath counties. Drop off your donation at our Bend office between mid-November to mid-December. A simple toy or monetary donation can go a long way in lifting the spirits of a child in need this holiday season.

Tower Theatre Annual Sponsor | Central Oregon

Tower Theatre Bend, OR

We are an annual sponsor of Tower Theatre, a historic theater in the heart of Bend. The nonprofit Tower Theatre Foundation believes the performing arts strengthen our community and improve our lifestyle. They are committed to providing top-quality events and educational programs. The Tower does not run on ticket sales alone; rather, they rely on the support of sponsors at a number of financial support levels. We are passionate about the arts and the benefits they provide to the community, so we are proud to sponsor the Tower Theatre year after year!

This is a new addition to our usual give back opportunities! We added office-specific sponsorships, so each of our offices may select an organization to support in 2018. Each office was allotted funds to grant to a nonprofit of their choosing. The sponsorships were nominated by agents, evaluated by marketing, and then voted on by the agents, assistants and staff of each office.

The Vancouver office chose to support Evergreen Habitat for Humanity as a Raising the Roof Lead Sponsor.

Event: Evergreen Habitat Build Day Sponsorship

This year, we coordinated a home repair project for a local family in need alongside the team at Directors Mortgage. Investing in Habitat for Humanity through volunteer service and a financial contribution doubles the impact. The dream of homeownership is possible for hard-working families in the Vancouver area through Habitat for Humanity and its community of supporters.

Irving Office

Organization: Teisha’s Place

Teisha Helgerson, a well-known and beloved member of the Portland music scene, passed away in 2011 after her battle with cancer. She left her home in the Overlook neighborhood furnished as she liked it. Her mother, Deb, chose to donate the use of the house to patients recovering from a transplant, which is a long process that takes several months and requires that the patient is within a 20-minute drive to OHSU. Thus, Teisha’s Place was born. Teisha’s Place offers a home, rent-free, to one family at a time. The utilities are paid by the Teisha’s Place Fund through Peace Lutheran Church Women and the Richland Methodist Church Benevolent Fund along with individual donors.

Event: Charity Concert

Deb Helgerson has successfully run a variety of different charity concerts, designed to raise money for Teisha’s Place. In the past, concerts have been hosted at Mississippi Studios, on Sauvie’s Island, and at Lake Oswego Winery. This year, the event will take place at the Oregon Public House Village Ballroom on Monday, August 27 from 5–9 p.m. We are proud to sponsor this event for this incredible organization making a difference, one family at a time.

Clackamas Office

Organization #1: Family Dogs New Life Shelter

Family Dogs New Life Shelter is a no kill dog shelter in Southeast Portland devoted to rescuing needy dogs of all breeds, ages and backgrounds. They believe that all dogs deserve a second chance at a new life, and that it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being perfect for one another.

Event: 9th Annual Family Dogs Fun Walk & Run

The 9th Annual Family Dogs Fun Walk & Run raises funds to benefit this incredible shelter. Participants can walk (or run!) with their fur babies, visit the many booths, and participate in a raffle. Registration is $30 and includes a Fun Walk t-shirt, one raffle ticket, and a goodie bag. Children 12 and under may participate for free! This year, the event is taking place at Mt. Tabor Park on Sunday, July 29. Hasson is proud to be a sponsor of the 9th Annual Family Dogs Fun Walk & Run.

Organization #2: Clackamas Women’s Services

Clackamas Women’s Services offers education to Clackamas County residents about the issues surrounding domestic and sexual violence while using cutting-edge practices to increase the number of families we can serve and improve their participant’s experience. Their board and staff work closely with community partners to achieve a trauma-informed, coordinated community response to domestic and sexual violence in Clackamas County. With offices in Oregon City, Sandy and Estacada they strive to meet the needs of the diverse urban and rural communities they serve.

Sponsorship: Business Sponsorship

Hasson is listed as a Business Partner at Clackamas Women’s Services events throughout the year, on the CWS website, and in their annual report. Hasson is a sponsor for their annual Heroes of Hope Gala.

Bend Office

Organization: KIDS Center

KIDS Center Bend, OR

KIDS Center is a child abuse intervention center located in Bend. They offer a head-to-toe medical exam, child-friendly forensic interview, and family support services to help connect families with community resources. Their intervention helps minimize life stressors and reduce future opportunities for abuse to occur. They also offer therapeutic services to help children and families begin to process and overcome the trauma of abuse. In addition, their services include prevention programs to help teach adults in our community how to better protect children from abuse.

Event: Cork & Barrel at Broken Top Club | Pinot Magnum Sponsor

This three-day wine and food event series in July directly benefits KIDS Center. Supporters of the organization come together for an exclusive and high-end wine and food event series for more than 800 wine-loving guests. Each year, Cork & Barrel brings a new wine region to Central Oregon, and this year, the event will feature the amazing winemakers of Sonoma. Cork & Barrel also features a number of local and regional guest chefs who prepare small bites and meals for the three events. We are proud to support this event as a Pinot Magnum Sponsor. Support the inspiring mission of KIDS Center by attending Cork & Barrel at Broken Top Club July 19–21. Tickets are $100.

Lake Oswego Office

Organization: CASA of Clackamas County

CASA of Clackamas County

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a national association that supports abused or neglected children through legal and social service systems, often when there is no other stable party to advocate. The end goal is to provide these children with a safe and healthy environment in permanent homes.

Event: A Night with Michael Allen Harrison & Aaron Meyer | Dreamer Sponsor

This year, we sponsored CASA’s fundraiser to support their efforts in advocating for children in need throughout the county. A Night with Michael Allen Harrison & Aaron Meyer took place on Saturday, April 7 at the beautiful Oregon Country Club in West Linn. Hasson agent Larry Blackmar and his wife, Tracy Barry, a KGW News anchor, co-emceed the event!

Rose Haven is a non-profit located in Northwest Portland providing day shelter and resources to nearly 3,400 women and children in our community who are experiencing poverty and intersecting issues such as abuse and other health disparities. Rose Haven breaks the cycles of homelessness and abuse by providing meals, clothing, first aid, mailing addresses, hygiene, restrooms, showers as well as education and one-on-one advocacy. By building trust and meeting basic needs first, they empower women to explore long-term change.

Event: Reigning Roses Walk

We were proud to sponsor Rose Haven’s Reigning Roses Walk on May 13. Each Mother’s Day, more than 500 participants are treated to a reception with live music, food, mimosas and a photobooth before setting off for a 5K stroll through Northwest Portland’s Alphabet District. As participants tote matching Rose Haven umbrellas, they raise funds and awareness for women and children in our community who are experiencing poverty and intersecting issues such as abuse and other health disparities. Friends, family and businesses create online teams leading up to the event to raise $150K by Mother’s Day. 100% of the funds from this event go to supporting Rose Haven’s programs.
