The holiday season is upon us! Celebrate this magical time of year at one — or several — of these events in the heart of Bend and a few surrounding communities. There are plenty of craft fairs to help with holiday shopping, dinners to satisfy your taste buds, and festivities to delight visitors of all ages! Experience the season to the fullest at these local holiday events lasting through the end of the year. Pay special attention to the many events at Tower Theatre, as we are proud sponsors of this historic venue in the heart of town.
Varying Dates | Brasada Ranch, Powell Butte
There is an overwhelming number of holiday events happening at Brasada Ranch in Powell Butte, just a short 30-minute drive from Bend. Take a look at their calendar, which is packed with a variety of festive events, including holiday craft making, breakfast with Santa, cozy carriage rides, cookie and gingerbread house decorating, pony rides, a Christmas Eve dinner, a Christmas brunch, and much more!
December 1-17 | Cascades Theatre

Kick off the holiday season with this spirited adaptation of a classic tale. The Cascades Theatrical Company presents “A Christmas Carol,” taking you and your family on a magical journey with Ebenezer Scrooge as he visits his past, present and future before discovering life’s true gifts. Get your tickets for any of their many performances through December 17. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $13 for students.
December 8–10 | Bend Factory Stores
Browse the unique works from more than a dozen local artists and crafters in a fun and intimate holiday atmosphere at the Bend Factory Stores Outlet Mall. Enjoy free refreshments while you shop on Friday from 4–7 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Plus, your shopping benefits animals in need, as 20 percent of all sales will go directly to the Humane Society of Central Oregon!
December 8–10 + 14–17 | 2nd Street Theater
Get a good laugh this holiday season with “A P.C. Xmas” by Clinton K. Clark. This hilarious play features all the holiday classics with a politically correct twist. Enjoy any of the five evening performances and two matinees at the 2nd Street Theater. Tickets are $19 for adults and $16 for students and seniors.
December 9, 16 + 23 | Downtown Bend
Santa will be spending his Saturdays in Downtown Bend this December from 12–4 p.m. He is available for free visits and photos with kids, and donations for Santa’s favorite charity will be accepted. Keep in mind that there will be no professional photographer at this event, so you can bring your phone or camera to get as many photos as you’d like.
Saturday, December 9 | High Desert Museum
For a classic vintage photo opportunity with Santa, visit the High Desert Museum on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring your own camera and pose with our beloved 1880s character of holidays past in the historic ambiance of the Hall of Exploration and Settlement. You may even decorate your own cookie for $1! Complete the experience with music from the Thorn Hollow String Band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, December 9 | Sons of Norway
Get your fix of lefse and Scandinavian cookies at this exciting Christmas bazaar. In addition to delicious baked goods, there will be a full Scandinavian market with unique gift items, Christmas decor, Scandinavian bakeware and cookware, specialty foods, books, children’s gifts, and more. There will also be lunch available for purchase, in addition to coffee and waffles for sale in the morning. Entrance to this authentic Scandinavian market is free!
Saturday, December 9 | Century Center Courtyard
GoodLife Brewing Company is hosting the 5th Annual Central Oregon Winter Beer Festival, a showcase of seasonal and specialty beers brewed in celebration of the holiday season. Admission to the festival is $15, which includes a commemorative COWBF glass and five drink tickets. Each additional ticket will cost $1. Enjoy food truck fare and a variety of impressive winter beers on tap in a cozy heated tent at the Century Center Courtyard in front of GoodLife Brewing Company.
Saturday, December 9 | Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church
Shop from 60 vendors selling everything from gourmet food to holiday crafts at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Church. This fun holiday shopping opportunity is presented by Locavore, an organization focused on promoting local food and farmers for the health of our community in Central Oregon. Stop by the Locavore Holiday Gift Faire from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday!
December 9 + 10 | Old Ironworks District
Don’t miss the 7th annual CRAFT-O! Holiday Bazaar at The Old Ironworks. Shop local and handmade products from 50 talented makers and artists, while enjoying drinks from food from Oregon Spirit Distillers and The Root Cellar. Visit CRAFT-O! from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Entry is free!
December 9 + 10 | Willow Lane Artist’s Creative Space

Willow Lane is opening its doors for a special weekend of holiday fun. Browse the beautiful works of 18 local artists selling organic body care, candles, pillows, clothing, home accents, jewelry, paintings, wood work, instruments, pet products, and more. Visit the Willow Lane Market on Saturday evening for live music and drinks on tap. This is a fun and festive way to support all things local and handmade in Central Oregon.
December 8–10, 15–17 + 20–23 | Old Mill District
Pose with the season’s biggest celebrity — Santa — in the Old Mill District! Photographs may be purchased as a 5-by-7 print for $10 or digital version for $15. Santa is quite the busy man, so be sure to arrive early and check in as soon as you get there. They can take down your phone number so you can go shopping or eat while you wait for your turn.
There are plenty of other activities taking place at SantaLand! Visit the Tree of Joy to give a gift to a child or family in need. Simply choose a name and gift suggestion and return it to SantaLand by December 17. Enjoy complimentary carriage rides at the Old Mill District every weekend from 1–4 p.m. until Christmas. Tips and donations (benefitting KIDS Center) are accepted. You will also hear carolers roving throughout SantaLand each weekend through the holiday season.
SantaLand is located at the Old Mill District next to Athleta and Orangetheory Fitness in the former Orvis building. It is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. December 8–10, 15–17, and 20–23.
December 6, 8, 9 + 10 | Bend Seventh-Day Adventist Church
Take a journey back to the sights, sounds and smells of the very first Christmas Eve in the bustling town of Bethlehem. This live-action walk-through experience features over 100 actors and live animals in a realistic historic setting. No reservations are needed, and admission is free! Visit the Journey to Bethlehem from 6–9 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday or 5–9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday, December 9 | Bend First Presbyterian Church

This talented youth orchestra/choir has toured and filmed across the world, and has been featured on various television stations across North America. Head to Bend First Presbyterian Church for a special holiday performance — “Come, Let Us Adore Him.” This inspiring concert is free and open to the public. Arrive early, as seating will be limited at this non-ticketed event.
December 9 + 10 | Tower Theatre
Don’t miss the Mastersingers’ annual concert of holiday music. This year, the 40-voice chorus, chamber orchestra, and soloists will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s Baroque-era masterpiece, “Gloria,” in addition to Bach’s beloved “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” and an a cappella arrangement of “Silent Night.” Purchase tickets for the performance at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday or 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Monday, December 11 | Sunriver Resort Great Hall, Sunriver
The Sunriver Women’s Club presents their annual Winter Gala Reindeer Romp, an elegant and fun-filled evening of fine dining, live entertainment and socializing. Dance to live music from the Bad Cats, one of Bend’s top dance bands, participate in a silent auction, and enter to win raffle baskets and door prizes. Reservations for the Winter Gala are due December 1!
Monday, December 11 | Tower Theatre
This handbell ensemble is based in Berkeley, California, but is well-known throughout the world. They travel across the country and throughout Europe and Asia, captivating audiences with their spell-binding performances. Don’t miss their show at the Tower Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11. Tickets range from $22 to $35.
Tuesday, December 12 | Old Mill District
Celebrate Chanukah at the Old Mill District on the first night of Chanukah. This annual tradition features music, hot drinks, potato latkes, a jumbo dreidel, and a new addition — The Great Chanukah Gelt Drop, where you gather chocolate coins as they rain down! Don’t miss this fun celebration on Tuesday, December 12 starting at 5 p.m.
Wednesday, December 13 | Tetherow Event Pavilion
Head to the beautiful Tetherow Event Pavilion for an evening of inspired holiday shopping. This event features local artisans and businesses presenting one-of-a-kind products and services just in time for the holidays. Shop for friends and family while you enjoy hosted appetizers and beverages at Tetherow’s 5th Annual Holiday Bazaar.
Thursday, December 14 | White Aspen Creative (Above Joolz)
‘Tis the season for an abundance of holiday shopping opportunities! From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., gather with a variety of local creators and makers, indulge in small bites and drinks, and enjoy a fun day of shopping for all. The Winter Pop-Up Shop will be hosted by LoilJ upstairs in the new White Aspen Creative space, located above Joolz on Wall Street. Friday, December 15 | Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe

This annual tradition is particularly authentic to the character of Bend. Every year, the area’s most dedicated paddling enthusiasts adorn their canoes and kayaks in holiday garb and paddle around the Deschutes River. This unique event gets paddlers and onlookers alike in the holiday spirit. Paddlers will meet at Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe on Friday at 3 p.m. to decorate their kayak or canoe. After a crowd assembles, they will depart from the dock at 4 p.m. and paddle upstream up to the Flag Bridge. On the way back, they will assemble in formation, allowing friends and families to take photos of the decorated boats. Spectators should plan on seeing the decorated boats starting at approximately 4:15 p.m. After the paddle, everyone is welcome to enjoy warm beverages at Tumalo Creek Kayak & Canoe.
Friday, December 15 | Carson’s American Kitchen at Sunriver Resort, Sunriver
This exclusive event is the final installment of an eight-part Sunriver Tasting Dinners series that took place throughout 2017. The theme of this event is “A Night of Celebration,” and will feature a variety of sparkling wines and a delicious dinner menu crafted by the resort’s award-winning culinary team. The tasting dinner will take place at Carson’s American Kitchen, located in the Main Lodge at Sunriver Resort. Tickets cost $84.37, and must be purchased in advance.
December 16 + 24 | Sunriver Resort, Sunriver
Enjoy a festive brunch with Santa and all of his Sunriver friends in the enchanting atmosphere of Sunriver Resort. Indulge in the delicious all-inclusive menu in the stunning Great Hall and mingle with all of the holiday characters on either December 16 or Christmas Eve! Tickets cost $51 for adults, $26 for children, and are free for children 5 and under.
December 20–23 | Tower Theatre

Swing into the holidays at the Tower Theatre with a family-friendly show featuring songs, stories and dances by Central Oregon’s top performers. This family-friendly show features Central Oregon Daily’s Anyssa Bohanan, DVA Advertising’s Gary Fulkerson, local phenom Charlotte Fairbanks, Channel 21’s Bob Shaw, and a special appearance by Mr. and Mrs. Claus — all backed by a swingin’ 14-piece band! Tickets for A Tower Christmas: Swing Into the Holidays cost $17 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under.
Monday, December 25 | Sunriver Resort, Sunriver
Eat dinner like royalty in the beautiful, historic Great Hall with an enormous cozy fireplace at Sunriver Resort. The spectacular menu features an array of classic Christmas dishes. Reservations can be made in advance by calling 541-593-1000. The all-inclusive meal is $63 for adults, $30 for children, and free for children 5 and under.
