Whether you’re a last minute buyer or plan months ahead, shopping for your loved ones this holiday season can be a tiring experience. At the Hasson Company, we strongly believe that shopping local is the way to go. In order to help fill out your list, we’re sharing a few gift ideas that are made right here in Oregon and SW Washington.
For the Outdoors
In the true spirit of the Pacific Northwest, a variety of outdoor gear is, in fact, made locally. For friends and family who enjoy spending time outside, we suggest the trendy and practical Portland Gear Burnside Beanie and the Esatto’s “Classic Hiker” Boots. While on the more expensive side, this Vancouver based company specializes in boots that are extremely durable and can be customized to your feet. Anyone who logs miles on the hiking trail knows the importance of a good boot and these are definitely worth looking into. It is also important to stay fed and hydrated while out exploring. To do that, we suggest the Hydro Flask water bottle and/or the Hydro Flask Food Flask. Made in Bend, these products will keep your hot food hot and your cold food cold, so that when you take a break to indulge, your food or drink is just as you remembered it.
For Around the Home
For those that prefer to spend more time indoors, Bend’s Dani Naturals creates products that they describe as the perfect blend of nature and luxury. Their Mistletoe Candle is created from the purest ingredients available and is a great addition to any home. Your loved ones will also enjoy curling up with a throw blanket from another Oregon favorite, Pendleton. The throw featured above is made of merino wool and is a nod to their Glacier Park blanket, which was created the same year as the National Park Service. If you’re looking to give the gift of color, Portland’s Pigeon Toe Ceramics has created a coaster set with a fun abstract design and these individual Sprout Pots come in a variety of colors and are the perfect size to introduce a little greenery.
If a more unique item would better suit your needs, we’ve got you covered. Angelica Organic Skincare, located in Bend, makes amazing products including the body wash and winter solstice kit we have featured above. This local business cares about their community and the imprint they’re leaving behind, so they choose to only support small, organic farms and Fair Trade cooperatives. These products are good for you and the environment. Nashelle jewelry company, also from Bend, follows suit and donates a plate of food for every item sold. The Crescent Moon and Blessed necklaces above are some of our favorites. And, for those that like to indulge, the Portland brands Benjamin June and Walnut Bespoke Leather Designs have created fun ways to carry your alcohol. Whether it be the Fort Flask or “The Spartan Carton” , it is sure to be a hit. Good luck!
